including the Di visions of Parks and Wildlife sit up and take notice But here in the Greeter Cleve land area where we have lhe largest demand for public hunt ing fishing and boating outside of Lake Erie we have a limit of a few roadside parks and little 100 acre I'underson Lake within 25 miles of Cleveland The divi sions of parks wildlife re port wastelands In this area are too expensive Expense is rela tive The' enormous use Greater Clevelanders would give good state park facilities close at hand would make the Invest ment far cheaper than large southern parks and forests which are used by relatively few persons Need Needling Periodically especially when a column such as this is written in one of the larger newspapers in the Cleveland area we have a delegation from the Ohio Wild life Council make a token sur vey of available acreage within 30 40 miles of Cleveland There is considerable acreage available in abandoned farms and swamp land These would make good state parks and lake sites But nothing is done about it Almost invariably the license money contributed in such large proportion by Greater Cleveland hunters and fishermen trickles off to buy another large tract 360 420
