Pettis County Sheriff's Reports for June 12, 2024 (2024)

Pettis County Deputies and the Pettis County Fire Department were dispatched to the Temp Stop, 4575 South Limit Avenue on the night of June 8th for a report of a vehicle fire. When Deputies arrived, along with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers, they observed a vehicle on fire. The vehicle is 1999 blue colored single cab Dodge Ram. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames on the west side of the parking lot along the front side of the building. The vehicle was safely towed.

Sunday night, Deputies were dispatched to the 18000 block of 32nd Street for a report of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was left on private property, and the property owner wanted it removed. Deputies arrived on scene and located a gray colored older Ford Taurus sitting in the lot on the west side of the building. The car did not have any license plates. Deputies checked the VIN, and the car’s information came back to a male from Sedalia. The vehicle was safely towed.

Sunday night, Deputies were dispatched to the 23000 block of Highway 127 in La Monte for a report of a male subject driving around the house in the yard. Deputies were also advised the suspect had gotten out of his car and was getting into the reporting party’s truck. On arrival, Deputies had already been advised the suspect had started the truck, and was attempting to leave the residence. Deputies contacted the suspect in the driveway, with emergency lights activated. After exiting their vehicles and pointing their service weapons at the driver, the suspect complied and exited the truck. Deputies then made contact with the reporting party, who stated her son called her and told her a car was following him. The son drove to the residence and pulled into the driveway, with the suspect following him into the driveway. The subject drove to a second driveway entrance, and continued on Highway 127 to avoid the suspect. The suspect then continued in the driveway and drove around the house in the yard. He then parked his car next to the garage door, got into the reporting party’s 2004 Dodge Ram truck, and attempted to back away from the residence. The reporting party clarified the suspect did not have permission to be on the property, and did not have permission to enter the truck. Joshua D. Olson, 30, of Marshall, was arrested on charges of Tampering With a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree and Trespassing in the 1st Degree*. Olsen was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail, and was later given a cash or surety bond of $7500.

Deputies and Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 24000 block of Randall Road in reference to a physical domestic disturbance late Sunday night. Deputies spoke with the reporting party and the suspect, who both stated they were arguing over cameras and a prenuptial agreement the couple had. The reporting party stated she pulled a copy of their prenuptial agreement out of her nightstand during the argument, and the suspect attempted to take it from her. The subject stated she was fearful he would destroy the document if she gave it to him. She then stated he pinned her down on the bed by getting on top of her and forcefully pushed his weight down on her chest via his hand to take the paperwork from her. Michael Gene Evans, 59, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Evans was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold. Bond was set at $2500 cash or surety.

On the evening of June 7th, Deputies were on patrol in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Curry Drive in Pettis County. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a red colored Dodge truck. Deputies witnessed the truck make a left turn at West Broadway Boulevard and Granny Lane, where there is a sign and clearly posted “no left turn”. Deputies made contact with the lone occupant and driver of the truck, Jacob Alexander Hawkins, 31, of Sedalia. Deputies then learned through investigation with Dispatch that Hawkins’ driving privileges were revoked in the State of Missouri. He also had a prior conviction of Driving While Suspended on his DOR from February of 2024, with the ticket issued in November of 2023. The truck was secured roadside. Hawkins was placed under arrest for a charge of Driving While Revoked. Hawkins was booked and released with a court date in August.
